Trust & Estate Tax Manager

Position Details and Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Full-time
  • Open to remote worker
  • Licensed CPA
  • Minimum 7 years of experience with a CPA firm
  • Extensive experience in the estate & trust field
  • Salary range: $150,000 – $200,000

Responsibilities and Key Success Factors:

  • Develop and maintain good relationships with clients
  • Primary engagement manager
  • Substantial knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code
  • Accurate and effective research skills
  • Strong leadership and tax review skills
  • Review and prepare complex estate, trust, and gift tax returns
  • Estate and trust planning including analysis of estate and trust documents
  • Proficient in individual taxation and planning
  • Prepare various written correspondence with clients and tax authorities
  • Manage multiple GPW clients
  • Evaluate and develop team members in the areas of client engagement management and technical expertise
  • Collaborative team player who desires to be a resource to the firm and effectively uses firm resources

Tax Manager

Position Details and Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Full-time
  • Open to remote worker
  • Licensed CPA
  • Minimum 7 years of experience with a CPA firm

Responsibilities and Key Success Factors:

  • Perform technical review of all tax returns
  • Assume full responsibility of tax accounts assigned; this includes being responsible for personnel scheduling, compliance with due dates and monitoring time budgets
  • Begin and complete tax research projects, including the ability to present findings in a clear, concise, understandable written form
  • Act as a resource for tax preparers/specialists and audit staff on specific tax issues and questions
  • Assume tax preparation responsibility for more complex returns
  • Manage time effectively; includes the ability to handle multiple engagements at one time and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills
  • Have excellent organization and time management skills
  • Working knowledge of CCH Axcess or ProSystem fx is a plus

Tax Associates and Tax Senior

Position Details and Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Full-time
  • Open to remote worker
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting
  • Licensed CPA or in process
  • 2-4 Years of experience with a CPA firm

Responsibilities and Key Success Factors:

  • Prepare Individual, Partnership, Corporate and Trust tax returns
  • Prepare federal and state quarterly estimated tax payments
  • Assist with tax audits and tax research projects
  • Take ownership of tasks and be able to work with others to prioritize work assignments
  • Handle multiple engagements at one time and meet deadlines
  • Ask appropriate questions when faced with difficulties
  • Produce deliverables that are clear, concise, thorough and of professional quality
  • Dedicated to meeting and exceeding the expectations and requirements of internal and external clients
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills
  • Have excellent organization and time management skills
  • Must be comfortable reporting to multiple people
  • Working knowledge of CCH Axcess or ProSystems fx is a plus

Family Office Services Associate

Position Details and Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Full-time or Part-time
  • Must have at least 2 years of bookkeeping and client experience

Responsibilities and Key Success Factors:

  • Respond to clients with an expectation of within the hour
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of bank, investment and credit card accounts
  • Process bill payments
  • Research whatever is needed to serve the client
  • Organize and maintain client’s supporting documentation
  • Handle multiple engagements at one time and meet deadlines
  • Ask appropriate questions when faced with difficulties
  • Communicate in professional manner both internally and externally
  • Must take 100% ownership of all projects
  • Have excellent organization and time management skills
  • Must have working knowledge of QuickBooks and Excel

Tax Internship

Gatto, Pope & Walwick, LLP is seeking junior and senior Accounting majors for tax season internship positions. Recent graduates may also apply. The internship program will run from January through mid-April, with the potential for continued employment. Note benefits are not available to interns.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • General tax file organization
  • Basic tax return preparation (utilizing ProSystems tax software)
  • Projects utilizing MS Excel, MS Word and QuickBooks software
  • General clerical duties (scanning, copying, filing, supplies)
  • Tracking items sent to/received from offsite storage facility

Our ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong communication and organizational skills. Must be able to work independently and effectively multi-task.
